Pauline F. Kassuba, age 95, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006 in Gaylord. She was born Oct. 4, 1910 in Lovells, to Charles and Ruth (Apsey) Morrow. She lived most of her life in Otsego County and worked in many of the area restaurants. She worked with her granddaughter at B-Sides Flowers for a short time. Pauline also wrote articles for the Herald Times. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and the Altar Rosary Society. Pauline enjoyed going to the casino and playing pinochle. Mrs. Kassuba is survived by her daughters: Marion Taskey of Gaylord, Shirley Samkowiak of Gaylord, Beverly Robinson of Gaylord and Georgia (Jerry) Bates of Port Richey, Fla. and Mt. Clemens; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 47 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Kassuba; daughter, Ellen; son-in-laws, Ben Taskey and Wayne Robinson; grandsons, Les and Benji Taskey; and her mother, Ruth Flott. Funeral services for Pauline Kassuba were held Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. from St. Mary Cathedral. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in the spring. Visitation at the funeral home was Friday, Feb. 10, 1-9 p.m. and on Saturday at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gaylord Hospice of Michigan through the Nelson Funeral Home, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
