I am the combination of my Ancestors. I get my stubborness from the Roetmans, persnicketiness from the Apseys, perfectionism from the Doornboses, and the unwillingness to take shit from the Jagers… anyone who has met my dad, knows what I mean.

I wrote in a blog awhile back about this website, but apparently I need to address the situation again. Let me be very clear.

THIS IS MY WEBSITE.
I OWN IT.
I PAY FOR IT WITH MY OWN MONEY.
I CAN PUT WHATEVER CONTENT I CHOOSE ON IT.
MY RULES.

I choose to only put good things on the website that have to do with family heritage. I choose to honor my family heritage.

MY FAMILY HERITAGE.

I choose to share it with the rest of the family, because I want them to know about their history. I don’t like Drama. I don’t care about what so and so did 50 or100 years ago, but I will report it because it might just tell us more about who they were, their life choices, and how they managed to move past it. Everyone has crap happen to them in life. Denying its existence only makes it continue. The sins of the parents are passed on to the 3rd and 4th generations because secrets are allowed to continue rather than be healed.

Much documented information is found on the internet now. Some are pay websites, of which I do have access to and I bring to you so you don’t have to pay for them. Others are free websites. FamilySearch.org, through the LDS church is a very useful website of family information. Google is a plethora of information. All information must be vetted and I do so with my Apsey and Doornbos ‘gifts’. The bottom line is that your life is NOT private, no matter how hard you try to make it be.

I do the searching of family history, put it together in one place, and allow anyone to see it, not just those who are willing to pay for it. I DO NOT PUT EVERYTHING I FIND ON THE WEBSITE. Believe me, I know more about people than I wish to. And I DON’T CARE.

This website is supposed to be a celebration of life. It is to honor the Ancestors and to learn from them. I follow their direction. I have high standards. I would never do anything to purposely hurt someone else.  I would never purposely embarrass the Ancestors.

But I won’t be told what to do with MY OWN WEBSITE. If you don’t agree with its content, don’t visit. Become one of the absent relatives that no one knows about. Which would be sad…

…because we have a wonderful family.
