Mount Hope Cemetery is located on Mt. Hope Ave in the heart of Rochester, New York, adjacent to the University of Rochester and nearby UR Medicine – Strong Memorial Hospital. Consequently, the frequent emergency vehicle sirens was a little unnerving for me.
The cemetery was founded in 1838 and is comprised of 196 acres. There are over 350,000 graves. It is an active cemetery with burials still occurring.
